Tigh SgeirGael

Gribun, Isle of Mull,

Tigh SgeirGael - built in 2005 – is a self catering cottage sitting just 50 metres from the sea under the magnificent Gribun cliffs on the west coast of Mull. The island is renowned for its scenery, flora and fauna all of which are encapsulated in Gribun, which quite appropriately, is both landscape protected and a designated SSSI.

Whether you’re looking for peace and quiet, bird watching, sea and sand
or just a convenient base from which to explore, Tigh SgeirGael is perfect.

The cottage, which comfortably sleeps 6 adults plus 2 children, has all the comforts of a modern building with some very traditional West Highland touches. Beautifully furnished with many antiques and delightful soft furnishings,

The accommodation includes:

  • Fully equipped kitchen/diner,
  • Sitting room
  • Sunroom
  • 2 double bedrooms on the ground floor.
  • One additional large bedroom on the first floor (with four single beds)
  • Bathroom
  • Utility room

Facilities include :

  • Electric heating throughout (inclusive in rental)
  • Telephone (with “honesty box”)
  • kitchen with large range cooker (electric oven/gas hob)
  • Fridge, dishwasher, microwave.
  • Utility room with washer/dryer & freezer
  • Sitting room with TV, video, DVD, CD player/ radio, log burning stove
    (logs available from Salen)
  • Bathroom with white 3 piece suite incl shower over bath
.
There are magnificent views which ever way you look; South along Gribun cliffs down to Iona where, on a clear day you can see the Abbey; west across the sea to Inch Kenneth, the Treshnish Isles, Gometra and Ulva; north to Ulva Ferry and the entrance to Loch na Keal; and east (directly behind) you’ll look up to the towering cliffs of Gribun and Creag Mhor.

If you’re visiting Mull for its wildlife, this is paradise. Raptors such as kestrel, sparrow hawk, merlin, peregrine, hen harrier, buzzard, golden and sea eagles are regularly seen from the cottage. Deer, which graze on the cliff tops (and sometimes the garden) throughout the year, perform fabulous and very vocal displays in Sep and October during rutting. Otter and seal are regular visitors to the bay with sightings of minkie whale beyond Inch Kenneth.

And for sea and sand, this couldn’t be more convenient. There’s a sandy beach just a short walk with easy access to the bay for water sports. For the less energetic just being there – where the only lights you see at night are in the sky – is enough.

Whatever the reason for your visit to Mull, you’ll find Tigh SgierGeal offers the perfect place to stay.

We’d be delighted to hear from you.
And just for the record, the cottage is no smoking, no pets and because access to the upstairs is via a loft ladder, we think it may be unsuitable for children under five.
